You ought to know by now

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2003

It is of my most honest and sincere intention not to write one single word that has anything to do with Christmas as it could make this thing look like a weblog. I know for a fact both are reality, but I have made it my mission to hide and beat around the bush. So merry to both of you. Remember your daily dose of Wham bashing and please don’t use Christmas as an excuse for not attending your bi-daily briefing from Calexico.

Hungry red for a reason

Thursday, December 18th, 2003

Did you know? The colour red makes us hungry. And it’s not just in logos, it’s everywhere you’d want to be hungry.

Restaurants can be designed to be austere and upscale or regal and formal. Beautiful upholstered chairs here. A wall of red to enhance the appetite and create visual interest there.

Am I all that?

Friday, December 12th, 2003

Am I demonstrating severe ignorance if I search for days and fail to find “shift-control-z as Redo” in Photoshop CS?

Am I demonstrating outstanding unimaginativeness by concluding “there is just no way to multiple undo with the keyboard” (in Photoshop CS, gdmit, listen to me, Google)

Am I being sarcastic when I say “then it’s not worth the upgrade?”

Am I wry?

Am I wry live?

From a supposedly closed, definitely online coin laundry

Wednesday, December 10th, 2003

It’s past closing time for this coin laundry and I’m wondering who gets here first. Is it the guy responsible for closing and cleaning, or is it the guy responsible for the 2mbit connection that I am sponging on? The laundry company earns my thumbs-up if he turns out being just one person. And doesn’t show up until my clothes are dry.

Ahma gonna tell y’all about y’all and ahma gonna

Monday, December 8th, 2003

A good friend once told me that he was suffering from an inherited disease, quite serious. I did not know him very well back then, so I asked carefully what disease he was suffering from. He told me that it was the feared “ahmagonna”.

Stumble upon this, you

Monday, December 8th, 2003

As much as this is a recommendation, it is also a warning. Installing the Stumbleupon toolbar can cause massive loss of sleep, work and social life.

The concept is simple. Surf more. All the time. It is the people-who-did-this-also-did-that again, only this time, the jungle’s items are websites (and I’m being too hearty, and I can’t help it).

Instantly (instinctively?) I wrote a mail asking for an RSS feed of my favourites. Not possible, in the pipeline, against terms and such. But a definite gotta-have.

My profile page with recent I-like-it!’s (Someone ought to tell them to use flash on those profile images)

The replacement dictionary

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2003

Danish language has been invaded by English words. (Loyal readers of this brown website know that it goes both ways, with Danish as the primary invader, only that was about a thousand years ago).

Someone, do something. Someone did something, and he also wrote a word replacement dictionary. But the dictionary that I plan to refer you to in a moment offers alternatives to more French, Latin and German words than English. These languages were primary target for loan words (for some, others were just scandalised) back in 1933.

An eye on the graphic news

Monday, December 1st, 2003

Gert K. Nielsen, graphics editor of Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet has a private site about infographics. Lately, the gallery section of his site was upgraded, making it a suitable platform for sharing, talking about and getting inspiration from infographics artists all over the world. Got some, submit some.
